Simon Whitlock, born on March 3, 1969, in Sydney, is an Australian darts player who competes in the PDC. He is widely known by his nickname, "The Wizard." As the most successful player in Australian darting history, Simon achieved his long-awaited televised title victory at the 2012 European Championship, solidifying his status as a dominant force in the sport over the past decade.
PDC Debut and Early Success
Whitlock made an immediate impact upon joining the PDC circuit in 2009, impressively reaching the World Championship final in his Alexandra Palace debut, although he narrowly lost to Phil Taylor.
First Televised Title
The former Lakeside runner-up secured his first televised title at the 2012 European Championship, following earlier appearances in the Premier League and World Cup finals earlier that year.
Comeback and World Cup Glory
After a challenging period, Whitlock bounced back with an impressive run to the 2017 World Grand Prix final. His crowning achievement came when he guided Australia to World Cup of Darts glory alongside Damon Heta in June 2022.
