At the BDO, Kim Huybrechts' performance in the 2009 Winmau World Masters stands out, where he lost 1-3 to Steve West in his televised debut. In the qualification tournament for the Lakeside 2011, he was defeated in the final round by Germany's Arno Merk.
Rise in the PDC
In 2011, Huybrechts reached the semi-finals of the Players Championship in Vienna (losing 5-6 to Denis Ovens) and secured a quarter-final spot at the Nuland tournament, earning him a place in the top eight of the PDC's European Order of Merit. This qualified him for the European Championship in Düsseldorf in July 2011. In that championship, he defeated Spain's Antonio Alcinas 6-2 in the first round and Wes Newton 10-8 in the second. He lost 10-8 to Adrian Lewis in the quarter-finals.
Rise in the World Championship
By finishing fifteenth in the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit, Huybrechts qualified for the World Championship, where he was drawn against Brendan Dolan in the first round and won the match 3-0. He advanced to the quarter-finals by comfortably defeating James Richardson and Paul Nicholson. He was eventually defeated by the eventual finalist, Andy Hamilton.
Successes and Premier League Participation
On December 2, 2012, Huybrechts played his first televised tournament final at the Players Championship Finals, where he defeated Vincent van der Voort, Michael Smith, Peter Wright, and Justin Pipe, but ultimately lost 13-6 in the final to Phil Taylor. He continued his rise with three consecutive appearances in the Premier League (2015-2016-2017).
In 2023, Kim Huybrechts partners with Dimitri Van Den Bergh as the 5th seed for the title at the World Cup of Darts.
Recent PDC Title
On February 18, 2023, Huybrechts defeated Devon Petersen, Dylan Slevin, Nathan Aspinall, Ricardo Pietreczko, Josh Rock, and Gerwyn Price to reach the final of Players Championship 03, where he defeated Gabriel Clemens 8-1. This marked Huybrechts' first PDC title in eight years.
