Damon Heta, born on August 10, 1987, in Perth, is an Australian darts player who competes in the PDC.
Rise to the PDC Tour
Heta earned his tour card for the 2020/2021 season by finishing fourth on the Q-School Order of Merit during the 2020 UK Q-School. In 2019, Heta qualified for all World Series events in Australia and New Zealand. During the 2019 Brisbane Darts Masters, Heta caused a major upset by winning the tournament. He became the first unseeded player to ever win a World Series event, defeating James Wade, Gary Anderson, Simon Whitlock, and Rob Cross along the way.
Successes on the PDC Circuit
In 2020, Heta won Players Championship number 15, defeating Michael van Gerwen 6-4 in the second round and ultimately triumphing over Joe Cullen 8-4 in the final. At the UK Open 2022, Heta secured an impressive victory over Michael van Gerwen with a score of 10-4 in legs before reaching the quarter-finals where he was defeated by eventual winner Danny Noppert with a score of 5-10.
Triumphs in World Championship and European Tour
On June 19, 2022, Damon Heta, together with Simon Whitlock, won the World Cup of Darts, marking Australia's first title in the competition. In October of that same year, Heta achieved his first tournament victory on the PDC European Tour. At the Gibraltar Darts Trophy, he defeated Chris Dobey, Joe Cullen, Gabriel Clemens, and Michael van Gerwen, before claiming an 8-7 victory over Peter Wright in the final.
