The flight is opened and inserted into long split up the side of the shaft,  quick and easy to load the flight and the shaft holds the flight securely.  The end of the shaft has a protector cap.

"I have been throwing with the shafts and utilize a kite flight. Both lengths offer a built in flight protector which works very well and extends the flight life. Another nice feature of this product is the flexibility of the shaft. When you throw darts in close groups. the shaft of the dart in the board will bend away from the incoming dart and allow closer grouping of your darts. When you remove the darts from the board, the shafts immediately return to their straight position.

My personal preference is the medium length because the length and weight provide excellent balance to the dart which I am throwing. I would highly recommend the Side Winder Shafts for anyone interested in a quality product that offers flight protection, extended flight life and consistent balance to the dart they are throwing.
